When I was asked by Probity Merch in early 2026 to create the art work for the Caerdydd date on Metallica’s European leg of their world tour, I was blown away. I have admired their tour posters; from the inspiring range of artists they have asked; for so many years and this was my dream commission come true. I am so grateful to them for the opportunity.
It had to be the Ddraig Goch in all their glory! I also decided to weave in some landmarks and features from across Cymru: the red kite, a Druid (as a nod to their 2000 year old legacy in our history), the Carew Cross and Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber in Pembrokeshire, and the Glyderau mountain range in Eryri (Snowdonia). Some of you have spotted these and messaged and that makes me so happy.

The photos above show just how full The Principality Stadium was after a record breaking 76000 people attended the gig on 28.6.26, to make Wales’s biggest ever live music show. Seeing my work on the screens before the band came on was a once in a lifetime moment that I will treasure for the rest of my life. I am so very grateful.
I have received some differing views on my work from Metallica fans and art viewers, which is to be expected; art is divisive after all. The majority of feedback has been uplifting, supportive and full of pride for the Welsh iconography in the design. Even if you think the red dragon is a cliche - it had to be done because a red dragon is after all, pure metal energy! I wanted to convey my huge love of Cymru and Metallica - and I feel I did that. After around 106 hours of drawing, I was proud of the final result.

White Duck Editions have created 6 colour silkscreen prints in a regular edition of 715 and super limited red foil edition of just 35. Some of them were sold at the stadium. I will have a batch for sale around 6 weeks after the tour ends. Many of you have already joined the waitlist. If you’d like to be added - sign up for my newsletter or email me.
I’ll be posting on my socials and notifying the waitlist as soon as they arrive.
THANK YOU to everyone involved in this project and for all the love and support you’ve sent me - I’ve said so many times already, but it really means so much.
Diolch by fawr pawb!
